Cabramurra is a suburb of Regional NSW, New South Wales and is about 345 kms southwest of NSW's capital city of Sydney. In the 2011 Australian census the population of Cabramurra was 364 when there were 164 Females and 200 Males living there. Cabramurra is the highest permanently inhabited town on the Australian continent, situated at 1,488m AHD (4,880 ft) in the western Snowy Mountains of the Great Dividing Range, in the state of New South Wales. Cabramurra is a 'company town', being the place of residence for workers in the nearby Tumut 2 hydro-electric power station and electrical switching yards, and Tumut Pondage dam. Only persons directly employed by Snowy Hydro, and their families, are permitted to live in the town.
