Coonamble is located in the North Western Region region, New South Wales (NSW) in Australia. The satellite coordinates of Coonamble are: latitude 30°57'8"S and longitude 148°23'19"E. Coonamble is a town on the central-western plains of New South Wales, Australia. It lies on the Castlereagh Highway north-west of Gilgandra. At the 2011 census, Coonamble had a population of 2,998. It is the regional hub for wheat growing and sheep and wool. Coonamble is a small rural service centre with a stable population of around 3000 people. The Coonamble Shire stretches from the western slopes of the Warrumbungle Range to the alluvial plains on either side of the Castlereagh River. The district is known for its sheep and cattle. The quiet town has a charming main street with huge old pubs, interesting murals, amusing nickname caricatures and a number of Art Deco buildings.
