Picton is a small town in the Macarthur Region of New South Wales, Australia, in the Wollondilly Shire, on the south-western edge of Sydney. Picton is located 80 kilometres south-west of Sydney, close to Camden and Campbelltown. It is also the administrative centre of Wollondilly Shire. An historic rural town, Picton is now rapidly becoming part of Greater Sydney. The Hume Highway bypass meant Picton became a quiet centre of considerable historic interest at the centre of a dairying and mixed farming area until developers moved in and started subdividing land on the edge of town. It is now the furthest extreme of Greater Sydney.Points of Interest
