It is 17 kilometres (10.6 mi) west-southwest of the city of Newcastle on the northern shore of Lake Macquarie, in Cockle and Warners Bays, between the suburbs of Cardiff and Warners Bay. Speers Point is located approximately 17 kilometres (10.6 mi) WSW of Newcastle, New South Wales and 143 kilometres (88.9 mi) north-east of Sydney, within the City of Lake Macquarie at 32°57′54″S 151°37′05″E.
