Busselton is a regional city in the South West region of Western Australia. Founded in 1832 by the Bussell family, Busselton has been one of the fastest growing regions in Australia in the last decade and has a population of approximately 20,000. Busselton is 220 kilometres (140 mi) south west of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. Busselton has been voted Western Australia's top tourist town three times in 1995, 1996 and 2005. To accommodate Busselton’s population growth, the State Government has completed of a new state of the art hospital and has commenced planning for a new campus of the South West Institute of Technology (TAFE), to improve education and training in the region. Housing estates are also being expanded within Busselton, Vasse and at Dunsborough to the south of the CBD. The City of Busselton has completed Stage 1 of the Busselton foreshore redevelopment and enhanced the foreshores of Dunsborough and Yallingup.
