Sofala is a suburb of Regional NSW, New South Wales and is about 166 kms west-northwest of NSW's capital city of Sydney. Sofala is a village in New South Wales, Australia, within Bathurst Regional Council. It is located beside the Turon River. Sofala is just off the Bathurst-Ilford Road, with only local traffic through the town itself. Sofala is 45 kilometres north of Bathurst and ‘Australia’s oldest surviving Gold Town’. Today Sofala encapsulates the picturesque historic village of the gold rush days. The unique narrow streets of the village are flanked by beautiful old two storey brick buildings.
